Fact Sheet This project involves the improvement of US 19 (SR 55) from south of Seville Boulevard to North of SR 60. US 19 is the principal north-south corridor within Pinellas County, Florida. The existing roadway consists of a six-lane urban arterial with a grass or concrete median. A signalized, at-grade intersection exists at Seville Boulevard and a functionally obsolete, grade separated interchange at SR 60. The proposed urban arterial section provides for six lanes (three in each direction) on US 19 with two-lane, one-way frontage roads on each side. A grade separated interchange at Seville Boulevard is also proposed. SR 60 currently has three travel lanes in each direction with single, left-turn lanes leading to the US 19 frontage roads. The existing southbound frontage road approach to the intersection contains dual left-turns and a short right-turn lane. The northbound frontage road approach contains dual left-turn lanes and an exclusive right-turn lane at SR 60. The proposed improvements along SR 60 include widening to allow for dual left-turn lanes (eastbound and westbound) and the construction of an exclusive right-turn lane for eastbound traffic. The improvements along SR 60 will also include milling, resurfacing, and median modifications from South Old Coachman Road to Park Place Boulevard. The frontage road improvements will include the modification of the approaches/islands at SR 60 to allow for northbound and southbound traffic through the intersection.
Design is underway. Right-of-way acquisition is scheduled to begin in summer 2006. Construction is scheduled for 2009.
