Fact Sheet
The project involves the improvement of SR 55 (US 19) from north of 49th Street to south of 126th Avenue North. US 19 is the principal north-south corridor within Pinellas County, Florida. The existing roadway consists of a six-lane urban arterial with a grass median. Signalized, at-grade intersections exist at 110th Avenue and 118th Avenue. The proposed urban arterial section provides for six lanes (three in each direction) on US 19 with two-lane, one-way frontage roads on each side. Grade separated interchanges (Single-Point Urban Interchanges) will be constructed at 110th Avenue and 118th Avenue.
The existing typical section for the limits of this US 19 project is comprised of three 12' travel lanes in each direction separated by a grassed, 28' median. At-grade signalized intersections currently exist at 110th Avenue and 118th Avenue. The design for this segment of US 19 from north of 49th Street to south of 126th Avenue North implements the "Minimized ROW Design Concept." The proposed typical section for the US 19 mainline will consist of three 11' travel lanes in each direction separated by a continuous median barrier.
The frontage road system will provide for two travel lanes in each direction and a 6' sidewalk. Grade separated interchanges will be constructed at 110th Avenue and 118th Avenue. These interchanges will require the US 19 mainline to be cantilevered at 110th Avenue and 118th Avenue. Want to see Project Design Pictures?
